BEET + PINEAPPLE DETOX SMOOTHIE 1024 1024 Delphine Remy | Holistic Nutrition & Eating Psychology Coach

We all want to live well and be healthy but who has time to ‘wing it’ these days? Certainly not me — a big part of my approach to living and eating well is prepping and planning. If I know the day will be pretty busy with shoots, blogging or other social events — I keep it super simple and plan ahead by prepping meals and snacks I know will nourish my body, give me energy and keep the crashes at bay. This BEET + PINEAPPLE DETOX SMOOTHIE will do just that! and give the body the extra boost it needs after an intense training or if you need a boost between lunch and dinner.

Are detoxes essential? Even if your diet is “ideal” — there are external toxins such as stress that may be affecting your overall health. Detoxes will cleanse the body and literally remove impurities and toxins from the blood that get processed by vital organs such as livers, kidneys, lungs and intestines. Detoxes are not necessary on a weekly or even monthly basis — but they are a great opportunity to cleanse and strengthen the body while simultaneously giving your body a break for a few days once or twice a year. I have put together a few targeted meal plans that focus on different areas such as gut cleanse or immunity booster. SHOP a 3 to 5 day meal plan that works for you! Stabilize your sugar intake with my BLOOD SUGAR BALANCE or reset after long overindulgent weekends and holidays with my PLANT-BASED WEEKEND RESET.

Signs you need a detox:
+ You feel constantly fatigued, stressed or overwhelmed
+ You experience constant headaches or lack or mental clarity
+ You experience digestive issues regularly
+ You consciously make poor food choices such as processed, fried or refined foods
+ You are frequently exposed to environmental toxins such as carbon emissions, smoke, pesticides or chemicals

How to balance your detox smoothie
When you prepare a smoothie, make sure it is balanced with both fruits and veggies, but with more veggies than fruits to make sure your blood sugar stays stable. Smoothies made with only fruits tend to contain more sugar and may give your blood sugar a spike and smoothies made with only veggies may not taste the best. Balance it with a 3:1 ratio and don’t be afraid to use natural sweeteners such as honey or vanilla extract.

Prep time 5 minutes
Portions 3-4

¾ cup almond milk
¾ cup frozen pineapple
1 beet
2 stalks celery
½ cucumber
1 carrot
2 cups leafy greens
2 Tbsp pumpkin seeds

1. Place everything in the blender and blend well until smooth. Add more or less water to desired consistency.

Optional : Feel free to replace almond milk by the milk of your choice.
